Just secured a new job working in a truck body & coach builders business, passed my welding test there with flying colors (surprised the foreman!) It was a fillet weld 3 foot long in 8mm steel, with an 8mm leg length bead, a start and stop in the middle, a vertical down, then an overhead fillet...No idea what amps, but it looked like a 250 amp torch and on a practice the machine blew through 8mm like it was 2mm! I told him it was set too hot, and he noticed and adjusted it. His remarks were ' for your age and for 15 months of welding , you weld exceptionally well!' Start Monday he said! Wish I'd of taken a picture of my test pieces, but I had to shoot off to my other job. I'm well chuffed!
