Thanks Chunko'. I think I will make the hands and feet just a liiiiitle bigger on the next one. Maybe then my wrongness will be right...Coming along well, putting him by dark background was a good idea, these suckers can be real hard to spot against a cluttered background.
I have a few of them on my wall and it is great to see somebody pointing up into space as they walk along the street.
(As an aside it makes me sad how few people look up into the air.)
The faces have evolved well and hey he has got hands and opposed thumbs. You have got the proportions about right as well. if you make them the 'correct size' they look like giant flippers, make them the right amount too small and they look right. I have spent years trying to get a formula for the right amount of wrongness to look right and there isn't one. Literally I have a note book full of rubbish maths on this one.
Arms and legs look to have about the right mount of wrongness about them as well.
Chunko'.
It's a weird one alright.
But if they look ok they are right.
the blokey on the roof looks cool to me.
Measure yourself up, the ratios are ridiculous when you try and draw them out.
At least my ratios were.
I had a look at my old notebook today, there are about 7 sets of ratios ie
height=x,
legs=x/1.6
head=x/whatever
etc etc.
A complete waste of time.
These days I draw a figure on the floor in chalk to the height I need and measure that and probably ignore that as well.
The head and face are great, he has a personality. be honest, how many attempts does each one take to get it right?
Chunko'.
