sorry my post should have read that the flue sits inside the ring and butts to a lip left on the inside at the top of the cyl so that the flue doesn't drop in.Notice that Striker and others use a 'smaller into bigger' joint on the way up.
Ha!! Yeh, but your gonna be well warm in there anyway !!P.S Think I need a bigger workshop lol.
Is there anyway to get a more defined shape from the cutouts?, basically I have an angle grinder with slitting disks, grinding disks, and a flap sanding wheel.....
Chris.
ive been reading all this stuff about log burners and now im dying to have a go at one! i just need to find a bottle. hopefully the scrappy will have some. i know i saw a skip full of small air con gas ones last time i went so hopefully there will be some bigger ones too.
How much
Why not make your own you dont need it that thicknest either, 1mm will do you, look at flue pipe thats being sold on fire sites etc and fleabay you wont see them at more than 1mm thick 0.7/0.8. at max
Theres no law to it being round either, square, oval, even oblong will do as long as its big enough to suit your burner for a good draw say 6''x2'',5''x3'' for eg.
I had 2x1m lenths of 1mm rolled to 5''dia up for me and tacked together on the seam for £25 NO VAT,i just welded the rest up and stuck a collar on to fit the two.
