Bit far from me unfortunately. There must be someone on here who can do itYes but don't have a mill yet. I am in Manchester.

Yep, that’s what I did with mine. See post #13if you have a lathe you could machine an offset pivot spindle. It might even be bent (have you checked.) in which case rotating it might even bring it back into alignment.
Mine is the engineer series one, its pretty good tbh. I bought it on sale so was a fair bit cheaper than retail. Its cut everything I've asked of it, I use m42 multi pitch blades which are way better than what it came with.@dan.taylor.1 and @nickk
what do you think of your Axminsters ?
I fancied one of these for a while and tempted now. They seem good spec for the price.
Axminster Model Engineer Series MCB115SHD Swivel Head Metal Cutting Bandsaw
A versatile, medium sized metal cutting bandsaw with several notable features. This machine will be ideal for the smaller fabrication jobs, especially those which require materials accurately cut at various angles. Made predominately of cast iron, this...www.axminstertools.com
I have the same saw & for years it cut perfectly square once you set the blade square. (hint - to make it easier to set the blade vertical clamp a 6" steel ruler to it)
Then is started cutting off square vertically like yours. I tried everything, nothing made any difference. Like yours, the bow looked like it was off square when you lifted it a few inches.
I tried shimming the bow where you suggest shaving a bit off, made no difference!
I thought the guide wheels were taking the set off the blade so I beveled the edges of them a bit more - made no difference!
I desperation I gave in & bought an adjustable motorbike steering damper off ebay, fitted it & suddenly it cut perfectly square again! You can try supporting the bow manually while cutting but its impossible to provide the constant drop rate the damper gives! If I wind off the damper it goes straight back to cutting off square so its definitely working.
It was truly one of those 'why didn't I do this years ago' moments!
The fitment was quite simple, drill & tap a couple of holes. I can post a photo if you want.
An experimental damper can be created from one of these with a contrivance for letting the air leak slowly:That was my first thought aswell so was going to get a damper but then tried to drop it manually as thought that would be the same to control it, but no difference. So manually does not work so ill get a damper for sake of £30 and try it.
And ill go check the pivot shaft.
The way its going though and to save future hassle i do like the idea of a better quality one and new one like the Axminster .
thanks chaps for all the help
If you go to collect it from Axminster, make sure you’ve paid in advance. When you visit the shop DON’T take your credit card or your wallet.Ah Axminster are made in the UK, just found that out and could sway me that way now. And i have a depot not far from me to complain to ha ha
Don’t think they’re made in the uk. Probably Chinese and (hopefully) checked over in the uk.Ah Axminster are made in the UK, just found that out and could sway me that way now. And i have a depot not far from me to complain to ha ha
Yep, mine was older. Paid about the same for it. It was the second machine I bought from Axminster. The first was an “engineers” bench drill. I returned that as it was total carp.Thats the one i am looking at. Its seems a lot of band saws can be tetchy, why i thought of a power hacksaw. but a band saw seems better for my needs...if they work lol.
Was yours an older version thoguh, jsut askign as maybe they fixed that if it was a problem with them.
i could, but with all the hassle and time messing about doing that i would rather buy a good one that works. You could cut the cast lugs off the base and fit a couple of pillow block bearings on spacers and shim it.
