Re; my migatronic 185x... I had a play last night welding some thicker stuff (up to 15mm) and discovered that on the two highest settings (7 & 8) the welder doesn't operate, light is on but no power to torch. I noticed that these two settings have a black dot beside them, my thought is that these higher settings will only work when it's wired to 3 ph (it's a dual voltage machine) but no mention of anything about this in the manual I downloaded so it's only a guess. If this is the case, I'd like to re-wire it into my 3 ph so I can weld thicker material. Anyone out there who knows about these things? The internal wiring looks sort of self explanatory, I presume I just shift the terminals along (see pics) - Would I need a different cable from the machine to the socket? I don't think I'd do it myself (unless someone says it's dead straight forward) in case of messing up the welder but I just like to know these things (esp if the sparky is not entirely clued up) - or should I take it to a welding specialist? The mains cable is visible in the 4th pic, coming in from the right, 3 wires coming out..orange, green & yellow/green. The last (earth I presume?) goes to the fuse.
Any advice? I can wire sockets and lighting - even managed a two way switch but know nix about 3 phase. I can post clearer pics of the wiring and terminal numbers etc if someone thinks they can talk me through it .
