It's too hot to mess around with lime pointing so I've been making a window stay and catch to replace some that were missing from a window I'm repairing. Can't find any to buy that match.
I'm happy enough with the stay - I ought to have gone for a thinner profile on the twisty bit, but it looks properly hand made. I've not finished the handle but the funny shape bit looks OK in a bodge it and scarper sort of way.
For the handles the old one has a brass plate and big rounded brass rivet. I can make something similar in steel but I'd struggle for brass. Is this sort of thing available these days and what is it called?
