Ok sounds a bit vague I know. But question is this, I have some 30 mm aluminium rod that I want to screw cut in sections. Should I go with a fine thread to give maximum contact area or a real coarse thread so that the threads are thicker? Ok, don't tell me - medium thread.
I can cut pretty much anything in terms of pitch, just never done a job like this. The threaded portions will be a couple of inches long at least. So a coarse thread will be quicker to assemble I know.
Does it even make a difference worth a damn? The threads aren't really taking much of a load or anything and will be around 20mm.
Thanks chaps
