Hi,
Sorry, another which welder thread
Basically I want to get a decent mig welder for christmas which will be used in a farm workshop for general repairs / fabrication work. Mainly 3-5mm box section, with some 5-7mm stuff occasionally. It won't be used heavily or anything like industrial use.
I was going to get a decent inverter welder, but decided that putting £350 in an interverter was a bit of a waste when I didn't really need the portability. And the Oxford is perfectly good.
Anything out of the range of a mig welder which I can afford can still be done with the Oxford that sits permanently in the corner with 2 very long leads on it (I got fed up of moving it!) Up till now this has been used for everything.
I want a mig because arc is quite slow and I think a mig will just be easier. I am still not very good at Arc even after using it for 3 years (I am only 16, nearly seventeen).
Now the budget is meant to be 500 quid for the welder including a regulator, and torch etc. Gas / wire and any other stuff does not need to be included in this budget. Its also ex vat, I can claim that back thankfully! So looking on the Weldequip shop (very nice, btw ) the Portamig 211 is in budget. However, I am horribly tempted to push the budget a bit further and go for the 235. So my question is is it worth spending a bit more?
I figure the answer will be yes...
Thanks
