Hi all,
i just recently bought a job lot of equipment x2 warco gh1322 lathes, x2 union buffer and grinding machines and a Elliott floor standing pillar drill.
Its all been a nightmare as its all set up for three phase, i tried a transwave converter on the lathes and it struggled in full speed and kept popping the fuse in the plug, anyway i have been in touch with a local company who hopefully can convert this lathe to 240v failing that i will re speak to transwave and get there motor and control box package.
i am currently selling one of the lathes the two buffing/grinding machines and the Elliott pillar drill, but i have looked at the pillar drill and i think this could be converted to single phase without changing the motor.
Im thinking of keeping the Elliott pillar drill and swapping it for my 1.5hp sip f25-16 pillar drill its a good drill but i think the old school Elliott is much more heavy duty and worth getting it converted to single phase??
Does anyone have this pillar drill and know how to remove the chuck tried but all i removed was a mass of hair what was wrapped around it? not sure if its threaded on or a taper and you just put a wedge into the chuck and knock it off? Also are they under powered because my sip has a 1.5hp motor were as this Elliott only has a 1/2hp motor?
