This comming weekend is the northern shooting show at harrogate show ground....there will be every type you could think of forsale.
Any many many more expensive toys too!
Think you may be right with the outdoor stuff (uk being weather dependant). Never actually been.https://www.northernshootingshow.co.uk/whats-on/airguns/I took my youngest to the shooting show when it was at the NEC earlier this year, there wasn't that much in the way of air rifles. It was mostly catering for shotguns. I'm not into shooting although I was pretty handy with an air rifle when I was a kid but I was a bit disappointed with the show to be honest. I suspect it may be different at a show ground because there will be outdoor stuff that couldn't be done at the NEC
To be honest I dont see licensing as an issue if you have nothing to hide and no dodgy past. Its not actually that difficult to get a full fire arms certificate if you can demonstrate a reason to have one, ie access to somewhere to use it safely.Another thing to consider is the possibility that they will bring licencing in as well as they did this side of the boarder I had to get a licence before I could bring my gun north when I moved up here
I would recommend a bsa r10as per ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
nothing showing on gumtree or the bay.
wanting a 177 or 22 for plinking

I actually still have the same air rifle that was bought for my father as a teenager, an old bsa same as they use at the fair. New seals it still works a treat. Have a more modern pre charged bsa too. But it only ever comes out when my nephews come to visit.

Though I imagine air gun licensing to be a bit of a pharse, there are that many already in circulation. How has it worked out up the road in Scotland.

whats your budget?
I have this old girl, does well for bunnies and ratsThat's the most important factor in the whole process.
If it's just for plinking then a less powerful rifle is more fun, easy to cock (assuming you want springer), easy to shoot (easy for the kids too).
I've all sorts from Daystate Target PcP to a gamo junior ( which is the less powerful).
Also have crossman ratcatcher which is fun (CO2) and Airarms TX200HC which is a more powerful springer.
Best fun is with the metal BB 1911 replica pistol though
