With the mixing/time problems you are having I'd try something like the upol dolphin single-pack stopper. Cut the hardener out of the job.
Takes about an hour to set though but if you had a few cases to do at once the first would be ready for sanding by the time you had stoppered them all...
What epoxy are you using.
Have you considered polyester spray filler.
That looks to me to be the perfect solution. I dont care how long it takes to set at all - 24hrs would still be fine with me!
Is there any disadvantage to the 1k stopper for use on tiny blemishes like this? In fact, maybe i should ask what the disadvantage of 1k stopper is in general, outside of when you need a rapid set?

1K stopper is a nightmare for sinkage. It is meant for really fine damage, not filling dents.
