Was scheduled to fill some blown plaster in my living room wall today (has been hiding behind a sofa for a while). Started poking away st the plaster and before I knew it I was pulling hand fulls away! Got a cold chisel out and pulled about 100kg of plaster off in the end!
Was a mix of plaster and lathe (which was still doing its job) and all types of bonding/plaster/cement. Was very colourful as I smashed it off with a hammer.
The bluish stuff on the right is some sort of cement tanking and proving to be difficult to get off, I’ll attack t again tomorrow. Have raked out the pointing a bit so will get it re pointed and keep it as a feature provided the wall dries out ok.
I’d like to do the whole wall but the plaster to the right seems original and dry, plus I have a plug socket and light switch which would have to have visible wires to them.
Was only supposed to take 10 minutes ..
