Hi, guys! Could you tell me the Voltage in UK? 380 or 220? Thanks very much for your help!
Not a huge difference in design to make 3ph.
This day and age you want to be looking at producing SMPS welders though.
I looked at some used powered hacksaws down in my local used machine mart, they were after £165 for a Manchester 'Rapido' (1/2 hp I think). Must be 40-50 years old, looked dead solid, reckon I could have got it for £80 but it was 3ph so no good for me.
Its a shame though you just cant get the heavy build quality on orientals that the British used to make, unless I buy German at £1000 or more i'm going to have to settle for *****.
I was serious about buying and working a conversion, problem is Paul, the motor has its own gear reduction system fitted on it bringing the nominal 1420 rpm down to 317rpm I think it said, I know I can get a single phase 1420 rpm motor but finding a gearing system or having to build multiple pulleys to bring it down to 317 takes a lot of time and money, it is still a great machine but the cost would be easy doubled for parts, and labour time would be several hours for a proper job.
Hmmm im not helping any foreign welder makes.. my next one will be a BRITISH made PORTAMIG
After today, im fed up of chinese junk. No offence, im no racist either, but I really miss having good tools, and the British made what we wanted. This has all changed in a matter of a few years
If it is a decent foreign make such as Clarke, with spares easily available here at good prices and quality, thats another thing. But i hate seeing people feel cheated after their chinses machine packs it in with no where to get spares.
