I've done this several times, it's the easiest solution to the problem.Just unscrew it, there's enough spring in the wire to let it rotate a few turns, pull it out a bit, then snip the wire off, fit new tip, and away you go.
I've also heard of that guy, who does it because it's daft to throw way a tip just because the end of it has some minor damage. There's a reason it has 10mm of spare copper after the thread..... amd it worked perfectly after the minor modification. Or some he told me.I would like to comment on this one also. Not that I recommend to do this but I know 'some one' very well who has ground the end of the tip to remove the fused section, removed the tip, put a tip cleaned needle through the tip and refitted the tip. Since some of us are so poor and destitute, this is a win win situation. Can't let a perfectly good tip go to waste, can we?
Blimy I knew there were more reasons, it's good to see That I'm not the only one to 'know that guy'.it has some minor damage. There's a reason it has 10mm of spare copper after the thread..... amd it worked perfectly after the minor modification.
to a degree yes but, if too much heat gets into the swan neck then you can end up having to replace bits of the torch as well. For the price of a tip it could be false economyCan't let a perfectly good tip go to waste, can we?
