Got a cheapo (but brand new) multi-meter from Tool station for probably a one-off test. I may only ever use it once. The written instructions for connecting the leads to the meter, and switch selection is straight forward to understand-there are even diagrams.
Quote
Voltage measurement:
Connect the red positive lead to the V ohms mA jack
Connect the black negative lead to the COM (common) jack
Rotate the function selector to select the required voltage range in the correct DC or AC range. Unquote
But, the meter does not work as it should. I put the leads across a known live 240v circuit and the reading is 1.00
AC is selected, and 200v. I cannot think what could be wrong unless the meter is fubar.
