My elderly father having just had a seat in my brothers new to him Grand Vitara commented that he was struggling getting in and out his 'low' car and this was a world better. He has a 2011 Saab 9-3 ttid (180hp)
His usage is under 4000 miles a year, so fuel economy not too important.
I will end up servicing it, so preferably something easy to work on and reasonably priced for spares.
In the past he has had a Freelander TD4 and a Rav4 both of which he liked.
I think he would prefer a 4x4 rather than a taller car, even though he is looking more at softroaders.
He was a mechanic and likes his cars, but his health is starting to become an issue - will not get his hips replaced and both hands suffering from claw hand and arthritis. He is 6 foot 3.
Budget about £7/8k and not a snob for new cars.
He lives in a small village, 10 miles form the nearest shop, roads are all poor A and B and single track.
So what does he go for? any suggestions welcome.
