Nice restoration. Did you have to do all that today, after Shedendman spotted it? What make/model of lathe is it?

I restored it a while ago. I've no idea of the make, I think it's a cheap Chinese copy, not very accurate but does the job for making bushes and spacers. I was gifted it so can't complain.

I've not built my own from scratch yet, but have been customising one I bought previously. Have now taken delivery of 4 scaffold base jacks, which will allow me to adjust the height of the table up to 500mm depending how I affix the scaffold to hold scaffold jacks in position. I'll be storing things underneath my table as well; so I'm hoping the flexibility will help me get as much use out of the space underneath the table as possible. I've also added a shelf across the rear half of the table.

For a future table; I've decided to use multiples of flat bar around 6" wide, so I have adjustable gaps that and edges around each piece of flat bar which will also overhang front and back of the table. I'm expecting this to great help me with clamping items to the table.

Well it certainly looks sturdy enough.....I get accused of making thing to "industrial" strength, but mostly out of wood

I've locked just the front two as the table will be pushed up against the wall. Hope to get the top on tomorrow and get it painted.

I found out that castors like that don't last long with a heavy table on. I got these HD ones, 100mm did, 55mm wide cast wheels.

The tops on and off cuts rack fitted. Surprisingly light to move about and hope to get it painted tomorrow. Happy bunny!!

You could make a low level shelf for your welder to sit on, so you can move the table around without having to pull the welder out first.

I do on occasion have jobs away from the workshop so have to take the welder on site so it's really viable but good shout.

I'm just going to use it as a small shelf, theres wasted space there so might as well use it.

I cant believe how much power I have lost in the last 10 years. ;(

I was at my very best 25 years ago, I was unbeatable. Although I have lost most of my muscle mass and "need a hand" on heavy stuff I am still fast in competition and the kids can't keep up. Makes me feel much younger than I really am, although no longer unbeatable, now I can be unbearable

Not in its home at the moment. Total reorganisation currently being undertaken!

All finished and painted. Very happy with the results. Made from scrap and off cuts with the only costs

being the castors and the plate for the top. Total cost just under £160.
