I've been onto R-tech this morning since I'm gravitating towards their 160 amp ACDC machine. It seems to tick most of my boxes and the reviews (even the ones not written by them) suggest that the warranty and quality are better than most and probably worth the extra above the cost of an ebay special.
130+bar argon in a 9L bottle will be £50 deposit, £48 for the gas and £7 delivery (all + vat).
So, what have I missed? I think I'll need new gloves in a thinner gauge than my ARC mitts but beyond that it seems that the R-tech offer includes enough consumables to last through week one, at least.
I'm sold on the idea of TIG, now. Rivetted cowlings now just look awful in comparison, don't you think?
