Hi all.
And no I don't call myself a welder!
Here's the pics:

This is all on the page but.....
It seemed I was doing ok with the 1/4" stuff. Thought myself some kind of genius being a beginner and all. Looking at a cutaway, I couldn't really discern what was parent and what was filler material, but it seemed like there might be poor penetration. So onto the thinner stuff for practice.
Seems I'm getting to much penetration on the thinner ~ 2mm steel. Have tried lower heat faster or slower wire speed and higher heat, faster or slower wire speed. I started with the "factory" recommended settings. They were ok, but I wasn't creating much of a bead on the surface so tried experimenting with the above.
Basically I need to know if the excessive penetration is due my technique or the settings . Tough to assess online though.
I should add that I'm making an effort to weave, and slowly at that. And I'm holding the gun more upright, which I didn't do with the larger stuff. I just can't seem to create a bead on the surface and not get excessive penetration on the thinner exhaust tube material. Granted some of what was giving me trouble was welding on a curved surface.
Any insight appreciated and sorry for such a long post.
