hello, have been lurking around as a guest for a few weeks so thought id join up
I would really like to learn to weld as it would be very handy in my work, im currently an apprentice motor mechanic and also the family has a farm so i am there at the weekends.
I would probably do most of my welding on the farm repairing (or trying to ) agricultural equipment. So the majority of the metal i'll be working with will be pretty heavy sort of stuff.. although would be nice to weld thinner material such as steel gates.
i have'nt got a welder myself but my dad does have a stick welder that he uses.. i would like to buy my own welder though and would appreciate some advice on what makes to chose and what type to go for? like would a stick welder be good or is mig the way forward?
