Would these be cost effective to run as a server for data/films/photos. The sort of stuff you dont need on a PC but need as a backup.FYI, I’ve got a couple of DL360 G5’s kicking around. Dual quad core and 32GB ram. PM me if you want one.

What the hell is an rpi. LolSomething like an rpi and a handful of drives makes a good media server...

Cheers. Quick nosey and looks good. Cleaner than xbmc. Its a little while since I used it but Plex was very good, if/when I decide to do it again it's what I'll use.
Does it need lots of memory or proc power?Picked up an old mini atx hp pc for a media server. Small and quiet and not power hungry. Just gotta get around to setting it up.
Old c2duo monitor kb and mouse for 30 notes room for 4 drives too.
Recommendations for software? Last time I set one up was running xbmc which seems to be called kodi these days. Any other options.
I just did a search for mini atx hp pc andit found nowt. Then i did mini atx pc and it found loads of cases.Though for what you are looking at an older PC running something like freeNAS would be ideal. Raspberry Pi's have somewhat flaky USB at times.
Okay, I've got Matt's HP Proliant DL360 G5 sitting here now, obviously (I assume) there's no point getting a newer graphics card for it with it being so old, there'll surely be a bottleneck somewhere, so what about this one? I'm pretty sure its small enough to fit the case, the price fits my budget and the 4 display outputs inspire some confidence that it'll support one or two just fine.
Just to be clear, I've got no interest in gaming on it, it'll mainly be used for CAD (probably nothing particularly complicated either). Oh, and watching YouTube if I can hear it over the fan noise.
I had read I wanted Quadro rather than GeForce but didn't really know why. Do you pay for drivers? A lot of used cards say they don't come with them.Looks like a good bet to me.
Be aware that if you are doing any CAD rendering then the Quadro cards will be better suited to most APP's as they use OpenGL drivers.
If you are using Fusion it uses DirectX drivers and therefore works better with gaming cards.
However at this price point it will probably make no difference.
Firepro is AMD isn't it? Will that play nicely with Intel CPUs?I have a old firepro you can have cheap
