Okay lads and lasses, I'm looking for car knowledge here:
The missus's Renault Laguna 1.9 Dti came back from the MOT a week ago...
First, when she went to pick it up, it needed a new starter, and new heater plugs (was fine before it went), and now, when I just got in it, found it runs slower than my Hilux (and that certainly ain't right). I mentioned it to herself who said "yes, I thought it was a bit slow"
Never thought to tell anyone though....
So, the symptoms... clouds of black smoke (unburnt fuel), but a good turbo whine. However i'm not convinced the turbo is going as fast as it used to, and it doesn't come in smoothly like it did before. Also, absolutely no extra acceleration when the turbo does come in.
Now my feeling on this is that there is a lack of air getting to the turbo, so it's wasting its time. Therefore, something isn't letting the air in.
Now is that it - a butterfly valve taking the wotsit (or similar), or is the turbo ********?
