At the start of the learning curve, haven't touched a TIG for a bit over 40 years and that was only steel at college... My few attempts at ally looked like the Blob from the fillum had bred with Alien and their spawn had burnt holes through the spaceship
I've been indulging my EvilBay habit and got an OTC Daihen Accutig300P cheap* (untested, spares or repair - I'm an electronics tech', so...) and a secondhand watercooled torch so far, have some of the bits for a water cooler on the Skip Rescue shelf, punting for a hump capable of the required flow and pressure, still have lots of other stuff to find.
What I'm really confused about is how I tell what size of consumables I need for the torch, nothing I can see gives sizes of e.g. the cup inside where it fits onto the collet body, they just list "WP-17/18/26" f'rinstance which doesn't tell me a lot...
I'm guessing the watercooled torch is either a WP-20? or 18?
As a newbie I'll be struggling at first, will gas lens hardware make my life easier? There are consumables kits for not a lot of money that have 'em along with normal cups etc. once I know what I need to order...
Any help, advice etc. gratefully received!
Cheers,
Dave H. (the other one)
* I know it's 3-phase, and I have a rotary phase convertor that currently powers my milling machine!
