but skilled enough to use arc on thin metal.
lol, what a start. yah, i cant afford a mig welder, but after much reading it dawned on me that arc welders have been around much longer than migs, and they must have been used on thin metals.
i worked as a mig welder for several years, and while i wont pretent to know much about the technical side of it, i do have a natural skill at it (resulted in me being heaped on nasty "continuous welding" jobs in two factories)
I only did arc welding for a month or two in training, but i loved it. also, it seems the simplest welding solution, as in, no gas to worry about.
could any of you more knowledgeable guys tell me if im plain wrong here, is arc practical for box section and some sheet, if i get thin rods?
id like to do some heavier stuff also, maybe 8 - 10mm
and the big one in my mind, what amp rating should i be looking for, if im running off household 220V?
thanks for reading,
ned .
