Hey everyone! Had a breakdown yesterday, 2003 Galaxy (aka VW Sharan aka Seat Alhambra). Sudden loss of engine and then wouldn't start. ECU gave an O2 sensor error (had OBD device in the glove box).
The breakdown mechanic came, he wasn't convinced it was an O2 issue. He disconnected the fuel line from the engine and there was no fuel delivery while the engine cranked.
He checked if the pump was running, said he could feel the fuel pump vibrating in the fuel tank but it sounded unhealthy.
So sounds like a simple fix? He said there's four wires to the pump, two thick ones and two thin ones, but I didn't follow what each one did, though the parts diagram calls it a "fuel pump sender assembly" so maybe the thick ones are the pump and the thin ones the sender.
I've got the day off Wednesday to drop the tank (or maybe just cut a hole in my boot floor ). Any tips for what to look for or any tests to run?
