Hi all,
Just joined, but have been looking at this forum, on & off, for years.
Been welding for approx. 35 yrs, used all types.
When I finished working, (moved to rural Ireland....No work!), I got a couple of welders, an excellent stick welder, and a used Clark mig. Both worked excellently for years.
I then looked at treating myself to a tig. Sold the 2 welders I had to finance it. The gas, rods, Reg, etc., worked out at €250 without welder.
I had previously done about a years research into tig welders, Chinese, known brands, and companies.
What a minefield!
I did not have, nor could I warrant, spending a cool grand on one. I kept looking at the eBay tigmig machines. I could not find any reviews, info, or anything about them on the net,...bar some Italian made utube videos, which looked like they were made by tigmig themselves.
I plunged in. I got a tig 200 Hf machine. Keepers!....I got it, with delivery, for less than €200! Yep, I watched their welders for approx 2 months, saw the lowest price for bids time, and got in.
Well pleased with that I thought.
Courier delivered it about 5 days later.
Boy was I eager to start playing with it.
Got it all hooked up. Tested out the stick,....perfect. Tested out the tig,...perfect.
I only do a small amount of welding, primarily for my own projects.
Approximately 50 days later, it packed up, yep,...I'd been duped.
When you look at the terms & conditions for returns you notice that the cost of returns are to be the buyers responsibility, around €100 from Ireland. I put in a PayPal claim, (the 60 day one). Totally useless, they didn't want to know. The seller, tigmig, did not reply to me.
Well I am not spending a ton on posting back, and forget about "legal consumer rights" with another country.
I opened her up. Blown capacitors and resistors, and my max usage was 120 amp. Replaced the obviously blown parts, but to no avail. The 3 boards were date stamped 2012 but I purchased it in 2015.
I did a utube review on it, search tigmig Italy.
So for anyone considering these machines,...
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
