Hello,
I have recently purchased an R Tech 251 AC/DC tig welder new. Although I am not new to mig and stick welding I am a complete novice when it comes to tig.
When welding with the tig I get a loud rasping noise and the arc jumps all over the gas shielded area and leaves a dappled effect on my work, as the arc is jumping I am unable to weld at low amps as the arc is splitting and spreading the power.
I have ground the tungsten correctly (vertically I believe) (red tip type) and have been using pureshield argon for BOC in a green bottle Size W.
But I cannot get the welder to function correctly. I have it in DC mode for stainless steel and the torch in the negative outlet.
Hopefully the pic will explain more than I can
Thanks for your help
Chris
