hello
when i first started looking for a tig welder i was suprised by the price of it. As a hobbies that want to do something that a arc or a mig can´t do (thin plates and don´t have to change the bottle for some other if i change the metal to weld). started to look for a 300 euros machine . As i gather more money i was looking for machine that have more stuff (preflow, post flow, up ramp, down ramp, pulse etc...)
As i have no experience on tig machines i want an advice of someone that has more experienced.
How much do you use pulse funcion? if you do the standart -no pulse, slow pulse and rapid pulse suficce?
How much power does the machine has to have? 5 amp, 10 amps, 20 amp on the low side. I read that must people weld at 20 amp or more so a machine that get 5 amps will not be a must.
How high should we go? 160, 180 or 210 amps? what is usally your top welding amperage? for wich material and thickness?
Down ramp and up ramp is a must? the down ramp helps to prevent craters on the weld.
what features do you think that or tig welder must have to make a good tig weld if your have a low budget 450 £ or 500 euros?if less the better , i will weld on weekends for 10 minutes so i don´t expect to recuperate my investement.
thanks
