Does anyone know if you can get 55degree carbide inserts for turning imperial threads? I've had a quick search online and not come across any so far.
I've finally taken the plunge and had a bash at screwcutting on my Boxford AUD. First job is to make a new stud for the banjo on it as the stud there is damaged at the head end where it slots into the banjo. I had a go today and turned a practice piece up 14tpi but I've only got a 60degree metric insert. It did the job reasonably well but whilst the nut runs up it no bother it is tight. I assume the tightness is because I've cut the threads with a metric insert?
p.s. Screwcutting is not as daunting as it looks
