Apologies if this comes across as a bone headed question - but the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked!

I have an electric motor which has come off a bridge saw. The thread on the spindle was wrecked so I have cleaned up the spindle and now need to add a thread to it.
Can anyone tell me what hand thread I need to use when threading the spindle to take a nut. The blade spins clockwise - so do I need to use a left hand thread or will a right hand thread suffice?
Thanks
