I'm therefore doing the simple stuff myself, and the fabricators can do all the important bits.
So the last couple of days little job was to cut 80 lengths of 50x50x6Tee and then notch each end to allow it to sit under a beam flange and be welded on site. I had allowed for 30 mins a piece when I priced it , so approx £1200 .
Used my portable band saw to cut the part of the notch across the flange , then we knocked up a quick jig to molegrip to the bandsaw after holding it vertical in a vice. This then allowed be to put the cut along the piece . All worked a treat .
Not only saving a couple of days for a fabricator, but a fair chunk of money for me too.
Bloody hot day, it's not like working in the comforts of my office
