I've been watching a few videos on youtube of Americans TIG welding and whenever they're terminating the arc, they quickly flick the torch away/pop it off without any sloping. What's the reason for this? surely this will cause crater defects and/or leave oxidation where the pool has been allowed to cool down without any gas shielding. Never seen this being done where I work in the UK - it's always done by sloping. Any ideas? cheers
