so after watching a video and see someone using one of these.
i thought its about time i had one too. instead of eyeballing the tap to see if its straight.
thought about making one, but soo many things to do.
i thought il see how much they was first. if very expensive then i guess il make one.
if not then il just buy one, so i can get on with the current projects to hand..
so i bought one, great for taps that have a centre hole in the top.
not so good for the small taps that have the spike instead of a hole.
so i took the pointer out and turned it around, put it in the lathe and thought il use the centre drill to put a little indent in it
so it will hold small taps straight..
yer wasn't counting on the damm thing has been hardened DOH !
ive tried a new centre drill, drill bit. even the insert lathe tool..
managed to get a tiny hole started but not deep enough.
any ideas how to get the end of it drilled a little, just so it will hold small taps..
cheers.
