Looking at buying an older XYZ pro 3000 CNC with Prototrak mx2 CNC 2 axis control.
One i looked at is cheap, mechanically it's great, but no power to it and the brains have been messed with. Probably needs a new control head, maybe more.
The 2nd one i just looked at is from a dealers and cost £2k more (basically the potential cost of getting the 1st one to work), i saw the machine powered up and working fine, but its done a LOT of work and showing its age.
Question 1: anyone use these and have any comments to make?
Question 2: what sort of motor drive do these have on the feeds? Are they servos, or steppers? One would be easier than the other to convert to manually controlled electronic power feed, in the event of buying the first machine. I'd be happy with that as a short term solution while i retrofitted a new control system.
