I recently bought myself an old Sealey Supermig 160 which was advertised as having wire feed issues. I go a new liner and tip for it and it seemed fine, I had a days welding out of it and was pretty pleased with myself. Now it seems to have got the hump about something and is constantly playing up.
Firstly the wire only feeds on some of the speeds, I think 3,5 and 6. It just makes a humming noise on the other settings. I once held the trigger on too long on another speed setting and smoke came from the back of it! Also, I got the wire stuck whilst welding (only for a second) and it tripped the 13a fuse in the plug. I unstuck the wire, replaced the fuse and started again and now it blows the fuse the second I strike an arc! I've been through about 10 fuses now, trying different extension leads and things. What do I do? Is it worth the hassle to try and fix it?
