On Saturday I was returning home when the pad wear warning light came up on my not yet 21/2 year old Landrover discovery sport with 13500 miles on the clock. Knowing the pads should last longer I had the front wheels off to discover the pad wear wire plug had come off. Tried putting it back on but the plug seemed less than a good fit & liable to come loose again.
Seeing as the car is still under warranty contacted the dealer. Nearly fell over when they told me they wanted £180 to “investigate” the fault ( free if fault was down to manafacture) & then I would need to pay again to have fault repaired (again free if covered by warranty).
I’ve refitted the plug & now I know the pads are Ok I will see how long it stays in place.
I have priced a new cable & can get a decent replacement for just over £15 & I estimate 30 mins to fit if I do it myself. Guess which way I will be going if & when needed.
