OK, quite possibly todays numb-nut questions, but if you don't ask an' all that......
1) Have an of you installed a wood burner in your house and had it approved by HETAS bod or local authority? If yes, was it a taxing process or fairly straightforward?
2) Am I allowed to fit a self-built wood burner in my house (subject to SWMBO approval) or is this a step too far in terms of insurance compliance/clean burning/what have you?
I only ask as we'd like a wood burner (or multifuel if possible) in our house but would like to mitigate the cost if safely and sensible possible. It would be going into the corner of a single-storey brick-and-breezeblock extension with a vaulted tile roof with no constructional hearth. I know some stoves can be fitted on a non-constructional hearth but if this limits choice too much I can't see it being impossible to cut out a suitable-sized section of the chipboard and Cellotex floor, pouring a base and fixing a decorative slab over the top.
Any thoughts welcomed
