First, thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum, I've been reading it on and off for the last couple of weeks, a treasure trove of information.
I'm thinking of trying to weld a grate out of a solid fuel stove, the grate has been in use for about two months and at least one of the bars has cracked, I'm presuming the grate will have absorbed carbon, will this make it more difficult to weld.
Any tips.
The stove is a Cleerview 750, I buy third party grates from my local solid fuel supplier, about £35 compared to Cleerview at £70, the last two don't seem to have lasted as long.
Welder old 140amp arc welder.
Bill.
