Hi Guys,
I'm thinking about welding a mild steel replacement stove grate tomorrow, as the cast one can only withstand the coal and hardwood fire for no more then a couple of months. Its about 450mm x 400mm. I've got some 25mm round bar and various heavy flat about in the 'shop. I was thinking of building a frame with slots, in which lengths of the round bar will be placed. This would hopefully allow expansion and contraction of the bar and possibly ease replacement of a few bars if need be. Has anyone got some experience with grate design, or am I just wasting my time with mild steel
Cheers
