As an 'occasional welder' I found the shiny welding wire had corroded / dulled due to a lack of use. I believe dull wire is not good so ran off / wasted a few meters and carried on.
Is there a better answer.
At my local weld supply shop ( 1 customer, 4 guys behind counter on tea break with loads of friendly advice), they suggested putting the wire in the airing cupboard. Good if breaking for a few months but inconvieninet if for a week or two. They also said spray the roll with wd40 and leave in the machine?????? My suggestion was to cover wire with a poly bag in the machine but they said no as the wire would 'sweat'. Perhaps do this and add a bag of dessicant?or am i being to fussy.
Any thoughts
