Hi all, I am looking to get a welder and cutter for some projects, (5m gate, small tractor repairs and farm impliment construction and repair plus general home welding/DIY), however so far I have chatted to 5 companies and each one has told me a complete different tale and is only interested in flogging there own gear, one despite the fact they dont do a cutter!!, So I have decided to try and ask on here for some advise.
I have never picked up a welder before, My projects are in France and they run on 16amp not 13. the metal is various sizes from 10x10mm square tubbing to 12mm steel and just about everything inbetween. Also there might be some aluminuim work.
So far I have been told that the new chinese welders are great, new chinese welders are crap, new european welders are best, new euopean welders are crap. You see where this is going I hope!
So with all the knowledge that you have accumilated over the years surley you can steer me in the right direction?
I am looking for a welder that will meet all my requirements, Im also looking for a cutter that is contact cutter compliant I dont have the skill set to hold it 1-2 mm off the surface! As usual champagne taste on a beer budget so any decent second hand gear will be considered.
Many thanks in advance.
