It’s been a good while since I did any serious sheet metal work: maybe 25 years since I did any amount of stainless steel and about 15 years since I did any mild steel sheet metal work, although I’ve knocked up the odd guard or cover in the last 7 years for myself and that’s about it.
Long story short, I would like to make stainless steel mudguards for my products that utilise bicycle wheels. Currently I use only two sizes of wheels: 700c X 42 mm hybrid and 20” X 2.25” BMX but I will probably want to cover other sizes for other peoples custom bicycle projects.
I bend and roll tubes almost every day, and was wondering would it be possible to machine up a set of roller dies that could roll the mudguards out of 0.5mm stainless sheet…… not necessarily in one pass but say 5 to 6 passes through the rollers. Maybe two driven female profiled rollers dies mating with a single male idler profiled roller die.
