Been O/A welding (melting) for a few years now and am almost proficient but not a good welder by any means. I have successfully repaired chassis rails and made brackets etc. for my car restoration work but nothing complicated. I would like to start to expand my repertoire beyond mild steel and have a small stainless steel job that I could start but am struggling with advice on setting up. The only consistent piece of advice is the neutral or slightly carburizing flame but after that it all varies enormously. Can anyone advise a novice on the best general start up requirement for joining lengths of stainless exhaust pipe for example. i.e. filler rod particularly. Could any replies kindly assume I am slow witted.
