Hi all
I just thought I would give a shout out to a great service provided to me by Aaron Byler at SSC Controls in Mentor Ohio USA. I had been in discussion with Aaron for a little time about obtaining a pedal from them. Initially Aaron was understandably cautious as he knew little about R Tech Welders but with the kind help of Daz at R Tech I could send him the correct spec and wiring of the foot control. I sent Aaron the 7 pin male plug I got with my Welder as all the plugs he had of that type were female and he agreed to solder it on for me. I short order I was soon to be the proud owner of a USA made foot pedal for my R Tech Tig.
To say the pedal is better than the supplied stock pedal would be an understatement. It is IMHO 200% better. I had to make a few brackets ot of 3 mm Aluminim in the workshop so I would like to give you my first impressions below. Oh and the way the pedal is solid, built like a tank!
Using the foot control on the welder;
1. First thing I noticed is the start angle between my foot and the floor is far more comfortable than the stock pedal.
2. The pedal feels smooth from the HF start right up to full amperage in this case 140.
3. Once weld pool formed it was easy to control as heat built up in material meant easing off on pedal which was not only smooth but comfortable, as any welder knows comfort is everything whilst welding.
4. Pedal is wider and lower than the stock one therefore does not wobble whilst you are trying to position your work boot correctly.
If you are considering it you need not fear you will be well pleased with your purchase.
Regards
Steve
