I’m in need of a pedestal type squeeze riveter. It’s not something I have any experience of but they seem to me a relatively simple beast.
I’d like it to be pneumatic and be able to distort 1/4” annealed rivets. It does not need to form heads or make any particular shape it just needs to ‘squish’ the metal enough so it can grip sheet to sheet or sheet to casting.
My questions are-
how do I calculate what force is required?
Where can I source a suitable cylinder and foot control
Throw need not be more than an inch or so.
Throat of riveter will need to be 28” but I intend to fabricate this. May make a pattern and cast in SG but think the casting maybe prohibitively expensive!
