Hi all,
I now find myself with 3no Record Auto 74 vices which I am going to restore.
There is only one of the 3x which still has its original square bolts which hold the anvil in place:
I need to make 2no more of these up to match the original.
I don't have a lathe or mill etc. I have a drill press and bsw tap set etc.
I am thinking of ordering the correct bsw thread in long screws say then get some square mild steel bar.
Then cut if a small bit of the square bar, drill and tap it and run the long bolt through it then weld it on top and cut off the excess thread.
Any better ideas out there? I was going to sculpt the square head from weld but using some square bar is likely the best option IMO.
