I've got a job on for my brother in law of pressing in some new splined wheel studs into his 1940's Willys Jeep hub/brake drum. The stud spines are 0.5mm larger than the old ones and the drum/hub holes are slighty smaller that the old ones. They seem very tight and after trying one it didnt want to fit without massive pressure. I'm probably going to try to use the old studs as they seem ok anyway.
Is there a set clearance for this sort of thing? Heres a photo of them.
The studs go through both the drum and hub from inside the drum, a PITA to jig up!
I don't want to damage anything as it's a new drum from the USA and very expensive $$$ and an 80 year old hub!
I've already had to machine out a large dink on one of the bearing recesses that 'might have got a wack' that put a half millimetre bulge into the bearing seat.
(not by me)
Any advice welcome
