Someone took the sealing gland off the parts washer pump on the Safety Kleen parts washer i picked up yesterday.
The guy said the pump ran before. Obviously not once he had had a crack at it.
I only gave £20 for the parts washer so not the end of the world.
I took pump apart and it seems it was once oil filled (hopefully not PCB oil as it's now all over the workshop floor), whatever was in there is black and stinks to high heaven. Horrible sulphur, kerosene type smell, but obviously the ancient fluid in the bottom of the drum has probably got in there too.
It's a little giant pump which i can pick up for about £145 but im hoping there's a somewhat cheaper solution. I doubt the pump is economical to rewind and given its probably 30 years old, i doubt i'll get the seals/missing parts for the gland.
I'm hoping to use solvent with the unit rather than the kerosene that is on the drum it came with.
