Not kitchens I know, but we got advised against fitting solid wood flooring in our house as it's a very old property and the solid boards have a tendency to warp. We used engineered boards with veneer face as they were more resistant, don't know how solid boards would have fared but certainly we've never had any issues with twisting/warping.Beckermann make really high end kitchen cabinets, the kind of price range mentioned above and they're "just" laminated chipboard. It's a really heavy solid chipboard though, I don't see an advantage to solid wood against a quality manufactured board.
I'd always go engineered over solid too.Not kitchens I know, but we got advised against fitting solid wood flooring in our house as it's a very old property and the solid boards have a tendency to warp. That's good to know, I really only went on what I had read so it's good to have it confirmed.I'd always go engineered over solid too.

Have a hit a raw nerve? As I remember it my kitchen was fitted for a price quoted by the “Kitchen fitter” I was never consulted on how it was to be done. I assumed (wrongly it proved) that it would be done in a professional manner.the kickboard is silliconed to the floor due to customer not wanting to pay for the kick board seal strip its expensive at kitchen places
you order 3 as expensive at kitchen shop when you actually need 5 of them if your lucky

its also a git to fit if its been in a cold warehouse either shatters on fitting or goes bang underneath the unit had both
as goes for fitting kitchen sink is well sealed for worktop edge know better to seal this thing
just think if it adds an extra day charge to your bill for fitting it just to seal it up would you want to pay the price of it
