I have this reel of 9x1mm copper bus bar.
I want to solder it together at right angles as part of my slug defence system
I cleaned the ends with wet and dry, then IPA in a cloth, fluxed the faces with Templers flux and hit the joint with the plumbing torch. The solder didn't flow into the joint, it just sat there.
Not sure which solder reel is which now, one is lead free. Labels have fallen off. Tried both, made no difference.
Then I tried pre-tinning the faces to be joined. Clamped again then heated. Better, but still not what I'd call a good, strong joint.
I can solder plumbing fittings all day long, ditto electrical components. What am I doing wrong?
Would electrical solder be better?
